THE BASIC COLOR MONITOR SYSTEM EXTENSION
This Read Me document tells you why you might want the Basic Color Monitor
system extension, and how to install and to remove the extension.
The purpose of the Basic Color Monitor system extension is to eliminate the
problem that Macintosh Quadra 700, 800, 900, and 950 and Macintosh Centris 610
and 650 users may have with overly green screen color on the Apple Basic Color
Monitor and some non-Apple VGA (Video Graphics Array) monitors.
If you have one of these computers and are having problems with overly green
screen color, you may want to try installing this extension. It will correct
the problem if you have an Apple Basic Color Monitor, and it may correct the
problem if you have a non-Apple VGA monitor.
IMPORTANT: This system extension may cause some non-Apple monitors to go blank.
You can correct this by disabling the system extension; follow the steps listed
in " How to Remove the Basic Color Monitor System Extension."
HOW TO INSTALL THE BASIC COLOR MONITOR SYSTEM EXTENSION
To install the Basic Color Monitor system extension, follow these steps:
1. Drag the Basic Color Monitor system extension from the Basic Color Monitor
disk into your System Folder on your internal hard disk.
2. When a message appears indicating that all system extensions should be
stored in the Extensions folder, click OK.
3. Restart your Macintosh.
・ If your screen is still overly green: The Basic Color Monitor system
extension doesnユt correct the problem on your non-Apple VGA monitor.
・ If your screen has gone blank: You need to remove the Basic Color Monitor
system extension. Follow the directions in the next section.
HOW TO REMOVE THE BASIC COLOR MONITOR SYSTEM EXTENSION
The Basic Color Monitor system extension may cause some non-Apple VGA monitors

1. Restart your Macintosh.
2. When you hear the beep, simultaneously hold down these four keys:
・ Command
・ Option
・ P
・ R
3. When you hear another beep, release the keys.
4. Hold down the Shift key while the computer is restarting.
5. Drag the Basic Color Monitor system extension from the Extensions folder
to the the Trash.
6. Restart your Macintosh.
7. Go to the Control Panels folder and reset any customized desktop parameters
(such as mouse speed or desktop pattern).
